Last October, we had the absolute joy of photographing K + J’s wedding—a day that could only be described as part enchanted forest fairytale, part stargazing adventure. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Chabot Space and Science Museum, their wedding day was as quirky and heartfelt as they are. Handmade touches were sprinkled throughout, like a charmingly crafted ring box with fabric-lined details, a beautifully designed welcome sign, and a paper lamp made by the couple that cast a warm and cozy glow over the evening’s festivities. Talk about creative goals!
The day kicked off in the Oakland Hills at a friend’s sleek, modern home that boasted killer views of the San Francisco Bay. K + J kept things chill with their wedding party, brewing coffee, swapping jokes, and easing into the day with an air of relaxed excitement. Honestly, it felt like the calm before the (totally delightful) cosmic storm.
Before heading to the museum, the couple snuck away for a private first look among the redwoods. Picture this: golden sunlight streaming through the towering trees, a soft rustling of fall leaves, and two people sharing a moment so sweet it could make a redwood blush. It was pure magic.
Then came the ceremony, and wow—what a setting! As the sun dipped lower, the museum’s observation deck glowed with that perfect golden-hour light. Three historical telescopes stood as silent witnesses while K + J exchanged their vows. It was a mix of science, romance, and just a smidge of stardust. Guests basked in the beauty of it all before heading to cocktail hour on the museum’s balcony. The appetizers and drinks were made even more delicious by the dusky glow of the setting sun. And then… the stars came out—literally! Guests got to explore the observation deck for some unforgettable stargazing.
The dinner that followed was filled with all the good stuff: heartfelt toasts that brought on both the happy tears and the belly laughs, a couple of playful games, and some seriously tasty bites. K + J’s first dance was everything you’d hope for—emotional, tender, and the perfect kickoff to an evening of celebrating under the stars.
This wedding wasn’t just an event; it was a full-on experience. From the towering redwoods to the vast cosmos above, every detail reflected K + J’s love, creativity, and sense of wonder. We’re beyond thrilled to have been part of their day, capturing moments that were as unique and beautiful as their story.
